Our Operating Principles

Valley Health’s 6,000 team members share a commitment to each, to our patients, and to the communities we serve.

Our Mission

Serving our Community By Improving Health.

We are proud to be a trusted health resource for our regional community. We care for individuals in crisis, offer guidance to new parents, promote prevention, help patients manage chronic disease and adjust to new realities after illness and injury, and ensure access to services for those with limited resources.

Our Vision and Values

Inspire hope and promote health as the community's first – and best – choice for high quality, safe, and affordable care.

Our focus is on patients first, and is rooted in our commitment to operate according to our values: compassion, integrity, collaboration, courage, innovation and excellence.

We are Healthier, Together.

These two words reflect Valley Health’s roles as a partner with our patients, as a collaborator in the community, as an employer and economic force in the region, and as a compassionate resource for those with financial and other barriers to access quality care.

Valley Health brings exceptional services to the region, allowing people to stay close to home for their care. We support health-related initiatives of local organizations, boosting the efforts of others to improve the community’s health. Valley Health is also proud to help energize the regional economy and provide excellent employment opportunities. As a not-for-profit health system, we reinvest back into our workforce, facilities, equipment, programs, and community partnerships. On every level, we strive to make our communities Healthier, together.

A History of Faithful Service to Our Region

Each of our six hospitals has been a vital community asset for decades -- in a few cases, for more than a century! Since 1903, our regional referral hospital in Winchester has provided a distinctive breadth of specialty care in our rural region. After Warren Memorial Hospital affiliated with the Winchester-based system in 1993, we adopted the “Valley Health” name. In the years since, we have welcomed independent community hospitals in Woodstock and Luray, VA, and Berkeley Springs and Romney, WV, with the vision of collaborating to expand technology, introduce new services, create efficiencies, ensure high quality, and expand access to care in our rural region.
