Resources for Cancer Survivors

Wellspring – Valley Health’s cancer resource center offers support services including Ripples and More than Beauty.

  • Ripples – A support group for all cancer patients during any phase of their journey. Using creative arts to connect and promote healing.
  • More Than Beauty – Free program offering personalized suggestions for hair, nail and skin concerns and light make-up tips from Wellspring’s specially trained licensed cosmetologists. For all cancer patients (women and men) as well as those dealing with any other chronic illness.

Person to Person Transition Group – A support group for patients, family members, caregivers and friends. For all cancer patients during any phase of their journey. Usually a small group with open group discussions, fun activities, and guest speakers.

Cancer Survivorship / Rehabilitation Program – Outpatient services for survivors from diagnosis through treatment and afterward. Members of our cancer care team have received special training to address the unique health and quality of life issues of people who are undergoing treatment or living with unresolved problems from cancer treatment. Some services require a physician’s order.

Services include:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Patient navigator
  • Fitness services
  • Integrative care program
  • Financial counseling

Annual Events for Cancer Survivors

  • Surviving with Laughter – A special evening of learning and laughter for all women who have been diagnosed with cancer. This annual event takes place in March in recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in partnership with the American Cancer Society.
  • Breast Health Empowerment Events – Two events during the fall: the Breast Health Symposium for all community members featuring Valley Health’s oncology physicians discussing the latest in breast health, and a special Breast Cancer Survivor Event for breast cancer survivors of every age to explore ways to balance and maintain a rewarding quality of life after diagnosis. Both of these events are funded by the Winchester Medical Center Foundation.
  • Community Celebration Honoring All Cancer Survivors – Dinner and presentation sponsored by Valley Health in partnership with the Winchester Medical Center Foundation and the American Cancer Society, held in early fall.
