Cardiac Surgery

Cardiac Surgery is a major component of the Heart & Vascular program at Winchester Medical Center. Cardiac Surgeons specialize in the treatment of cardiovascular disease including disorders of the heart, aorta and blood vessels.

Our cardiac surgeons most commonly perform:
  • Heart valve repair or replacement surgery
  • Aortic valve repair and replacement
  • Mitral valve repair and replacement
  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
  • Surgery of the thoracic aorta
  • Surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation
  • Minimally invasive heart surgery

General Thoracic Surgery

Thoracic surgery is the general term for surgery pertaining to the thorax, including the lungs and esophagus. While thoracic surgery can also include the field of cardiac surgery, the term thoracic surgery is generally used to describe all surgeries except for those pertaining to the heart, specifically the lungs and esophagus.

General Thoracic Surgeons at Winchester Medical Center work with other experienced surgeons, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, and medical and radiation oncologists to provide advanced, high-quality compassionate care to patients needing thoracic surgery.
