Winchester Surgeons Unite With New Name, New Location

Valley Health Surgical Partners Assumes 65-Year Legacy of Respected General Surgery and Trauma Care

Two Winchester medical practices are merging and relocating to Medical Office Building II on the Winchester Medical Center (WMC) campus. Effective June 14, Winchester Surgical Clinic | Valley Health on South Stewart Street and the ACCESS (Acute Care Emergency Surgery Service) Clinic at WMC will operate under a new name: Valley Health Surgical Partners. “We are very fortunate to have a strong and talented group of general surgeons with additional expertise in trauma, endocrine and other specialties,” said Iyad Sabbagh, MD, Chief Physician Executive, Valley Health. “Bringing them together in one office on the WMC campus will be a plus for patients, as well as the collegiality and efficiency of their practice.”

Winchester Surgical Clinic has served the region since 1956, providing expertise in gastrointestinal surgery, including hepatobiliary, colorectal, gallbladder, and other advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, hernia repair, breast disease and cancer, endoscopy, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal conditions, dialysis access, wound care and trauma. The practice joined Valley Health in 2010.

“Our practice has deep roots in the community, and we are grateful for the high standards established by its founders,” said Charles Hyre, MD. “Our top priority is to continue this legacy of excellence and patient-centered care, using the best surgical approaches to healing. We look forward to merging our capabilities and seeing patients in our new practice on the hospital campus.”

Trauma and Acute Care Surgery is a 24/7 hospital-based emergency service whose providers treat and manage the follow-up care of patients coming into the WMC Emergency Department. Winchester Medical Center is a state-designated Level II Trauma Center, offering subspecialists and services to meet the complex needs of injured patients from the larger region. In 2020, WMC cared for 1,672 trauma patients.

“We are committed to offering the best, most responsive care for our patients,” said Terral Goode, MD, medical director, Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. “Joining forces more formally with our colleagues at Winchester Surgical Clinic in a location that’s a quick walk away from the OR and Emergency Department will be a win for everyone.”
