Valley Health’s Mark Nantz Named to Virginia Business “2023 Power List”

Mark Nantz, president and CEO of Valley Health System, has been named to Virginia Business magazine’s fourth annual “Virginia 500” listing of top leaders in the commonwealth in business, government and higher education. He is one of 28 hospital and health system leaders chosen from the Healthcare/Biotech/Pharmaceutical sector.

The list aims to capture “a solid picture of the powerful people who get deals done across all regions of Virginia,” according to Bernie Niemeier, Virginia Business president and publisher.

“Overall, the Virginia 500 includes leaders across 20 categories, some broken into subcategories, with the number of listings in each category ranging from seven to more than 70,” Niemeier said.

Nantz oversees six hospitals, including two in West Virginia and four in Virginia, and over 6,000 employees.

He joined Valley Health in 2020, in the third month of the COVID-19 pandemic. His focus is on ensuring a culture of employee and patient safety, financial stability, and strong connection to purpose.

“I’m honored to be among this distinguished group of leaders who strive to enhance and uplift the lives of Virginians throughout the commonwealth,” Nantz said. “I can’t say enough about the dedicated caregivers we have at all our locations. I am so proud to work with such passionate individuals who are committed to serving our community and ensuring our patients receive high-quality, compassionate care.”

Individuals are not nominated for the Power List, but are instead selected by the magazine’s editorial staff.
