Family Connections: The Needys

We like to think of Valley Health as one large family, and nothing personifies that more than when family members work together in our health system. Let's meet the Needys.

Caroline Needy: Charge Nurse on 4 Surgical

Theresa Needy: RN, Medical Telemetry Step down

Joshua Needy: Clinical Manager of 4B West MIU

Isaac Needy: Emergency room Technician/ Emergency Department

Caroline

What do you like about working with family? My husband Josh and I started working with Valley Health at the same time. We did not plan for it, but we ended up working on the same unit as CNAs, then as nurses for years. Now, we have additional family that work in different areas, but we sometimes cross paths. It is nice to see a familiar face and to work alongside family.

Why did you choose Valley Health? I started with Valley Health back in 2011 as a laundry worker to get my foot in the door. I knew I wanted to be in the healthcare field but was not sure what area. I would come up and see the nurses/CNAs on the floor and then decided to pursue nursing. I knew Valley Health offered various resources to further education. I utilized the tuition reimbursement to obtain my ADN and then my BSN in nursing.

What do you like about working with family? I enjoy working alongside my family, knowing that we are working on the same team.

Why did you choose Valley Health? I chose to work for VHS because of the value VHS places upon serving our community and the opportunities afforded to all employees in improving the care we provide.

Joshua

What do you like about working with family? It's nice to know that your loved ones are not too far away and that they share the same mission you have.

Why did you choose Valley Health? I chose Valley Health, and specifically Winchester Medical Center, so I could pay forward the service that was done for me many years ago. Were it not for the valiant, smart, and capable people in the Emergency Department when I was a little boy, I wouldn't be here today.

Isaac

What do you like about working with family? Working near family here has given me a sense of familiarity running into them from time to time and makes me more comfortable in a work setting. Also knowing that my patients could be taken care of by them after being in the Emergency Room with me gives me a higher level of dedication to care for my patients, knowing that the patient was well taken care of and will continue to be cared for well after they leave me and go to their floor.

Why did you choose Valley Health? I originally chose VHS as a teenager in 2004 because of my mom working here and the convenience. As I grew older, I came back in 2014 because of the opportunity and the friends/coworkers that welcomed me back. The family (beyond my literal family) atmosphere has been a part of why I stayed here since instead of going elsewhere for employment.
