Family Connections: Soccy Esteves and Vilma Evans

We like to think of Valley Health as one large family, and nothing personifies that more than when family members work together in our health system.

Let's meet sisters Vilma Evans and Soccy Esteves.

Vilma E. Evans, Administrative Associate, 3 West Surgical Telemetry

What do you like about working with your family? I work as an administrative associate in 3 West Surgical Telemetry for a year now, but before that, I worked 19 years in the Nutrition Department. I will be 20 years at Valley Health next month. I got my sister a job here because she can see that I enjoy my work. I like working with her although we are in different departments. But we ride together on the days that we work the same hours. We see each other in the hallway, especially when she brings supplies for the department, and sometimes we sit and eat lunch together.

My daughter Patricia Esteves works as a monitor technician in the heart monitoring department, but she works night shift. She has been at VHS for four years.

Why did you choose Valley Health? I love working here because I like to interact with people, especially patients, listening to them and letting them know that everything will be ok and they are not alone. Valley Health gives a lot and helps the surrounding community. I can see myself working here for a long time.

Socorro "Soccy" Esteves, Distribution Clerk, Central Supply

What do you like about working with family? I have been a distribution clerk at Central Supply Department for almost two years. My sister, Vilma, got me a job here and I am thankful for her. It’s nice to work with my sister because we ride together and I often visit her in her department, or if I have questions/concerns, she is always there to help.

Why did you choose Valley Health? Valley Health is a good place to work, and it gives everybody opportunity to learn and advance your career. Valley Health is always giving back, not only for employees but to the surrounding community as well.

Work With Family

At Valley Health, we are looking for passionate, innovative, and caring people who will each bring their unique skills and perspectives to our workplace. We believe our exceptional team members are the foundation of our culture and key to our success at providing safe, high-quality care with high reliability.

We encourage our caregivers to invite their family, friends and network of dedicated colleagues to work (and perhaps live) in a community like ours.
