Emergency services are available at all six Valley Health hospitals throughout Virginia and West Virginia. Our emergency rooms are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the most highly skilled and experienced physicians, nurses, and specialists in the region. Our centers are dedicated to providing patients with the immediate and experienced treatment they need in the moment. Our triage nurses quickly assess your condition and ensure that you are seen as soon as you need to be.
All six Valley Health hospitals provide emergency care. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
Designed to Treat Severe & Traumatic Injuries
While emergency services are also available at Valley Health's other five
hospitals, Winchester Medical Center (WMC) serves as our area's Level
II Trauma Center. WMC provides the high-level, immediate care that our
patients need, with dedicated trauma surgeons in a suite specifically
set aside for trauma injuries.

Vital Things to Remember for Emergency Treatment
Roughly 40 percent of emergency room visits are for injuries that are not necessarily emergencies, such as sprains, small cuts, and flu symptoms. To help address these needs while making time for the most severely injured patients, Valley Health offers Urgent Care in Winchester, Strasburg, Front Royal, Mount Jackson, Martinsburg and Ranson.
The Valley Health Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment and Healing
(EmPATH) unit opened in fall of 2024 and offers immediate mental health
care in a therapeutic environment. This unit is located at Winchester
Medical Center and
is an alternative to the emergency room for individuals experiencing a
mental health crisis. This unit accepts direct patient walk-ins, to ensure
timely and appropriate care in
an environment designed to accommodate patients' needs. Click
