Givi Basishvili, MD

Dr. Basishvili is a board-certified general and fellowship trained Bariatric Surgeon who will begin welcoming patients at the end of August. He specializes in Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, minimally invasive surgery (MIS), robotic surgery, and foregut surgery. He completed his undergraduate training at New York University (NYU) where he majored in biochemistry as a presidential scholar, and subsequently obtained his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine with a distinction in translational science. He trained as a general surgeon at a tertiary academic hospital at Stony Brook University, where he held the position as chief of resident education, and subsequently proceeded to complete a fellowship in MIS and bariatric surgery at UT Southwestern.

Dr. Basishvili holds numerous clinical and research awards, first authors publications, book chapters, and presentations at national conferences. He serves as a member on the education & curriculum committee of the Fellowship Council and will be a valued member of the Valley Health Metabolic & Bariatric team.

Nathaniel Sann, FNP- BC

Nate Sann is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Scranton in Scranton PA, before being commissioned in the US Army as a Nurse Corps Officer. His previous experience includes Bariatric Program Coordinator and Case Manager for general surgery services at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. He has also worked in executive nursing handling the healthcare for the White House, Cabinet Members and General Flag Officers in the Military District of Washington. After completing his service with the US Army, Nate completed his formal education and received his Masters of Nursing from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Currently, Nate is the ASMBS Integrated Health President.

Lawrence Tabone, MD, MBA, FACS, FASMBS, ABOM

Dr. Tabone is an Associate Professor of Surgery at West Virginia University and serves as the Director of Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery at WVU Medicine and the Division Chief of General Surgery. He completed his general surgery residency at Loyola University – Chicago and a fellowship in bariatric surgery at Duke University. He is currently the primary investigator for two clinical trials and serves as a co-investigator for 11 active research studies focused on obesity, obesity-related illnesses and metabolic surgery.
