Current Volunteer Needs

There are a multitude of ways in which Volunteers; young and old, employed and retired, men and women—generously donate their time, through administrative support, hospitality support and patient support. Here you can use your special skills, talent and compassion to touch the lives of our staff, patients and community.

Courtesy Van Drivers

Courtesy Van drivers are needed to help Winchester Medical Center patients and guests travel from parking areas to their campus destination. WMC Courtesy Van drivers provide transportation within the WMC Campus while providing a warm welcome to patients and guests.

Hurst Hospitality House

The Hurst Hospitality House provides free overnight accommodations for family members of WMC patients who live 40 or more miles from Winchester Medical Center. The Hurst House offers guests a home-like atmosphere close to their hospitalized loved one. It is staffed with a compassionate team of Hurst House associates and volunteers who are trained to assist and support guests as they navigate their loved one’s medical circumstances. Volunteers assist with house upkeep, checking in guests, and provide resources and support. Volunteers are needed for all shifts including evenings and late nights.

Additional support roles for volunteers include, but are not limited to:

  • VALS: Volunteers Assisting and Lending Support
  • Critical Care waiting room liaison
  • Way Finder: Escorting patients and/or visitors. Delivering mail and flowers to patients.
  • Volunteer Office: Clerical tasks

The amount of time volunteers donate varies by role and average 4 hours/week.
