Tonya Smith, PharmD, MHA, MBA, FACHE, joined Valley Health in September 2022 as Senior Vice President of Acute Care and President of Winchester Medical Center. She now serves as the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all hospital, ambulatory, and post-acute operations across Valley Health.

With a robust 25-year career in the healthcare industry, Tonya is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. Her journey with Valley Health began in 2007 when she was appointed as Winchester Medical Center’s Pharmacy Director. She quickly expanded her role to encompass systemwide pharmacy responsibilities and later transitioned to Vice President of Operations and Ancillary Services, a position she held until 2015.

After a successful tenure at Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, Michigan, where she led six community hospitals and spearheaded system integration efforts, Tonya returned to Winchester, bringing her wealth of experience and leadership skills back to Valley Health.

Tonya holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Maryland and dual Master’s degrees in Health Administration and Business Administration from University of Maryland University College. Her extensive education and experience make her an invaluable asset to Valley Health and a driving force behind its continued excellence in healthcare delivery.
