Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram, or cardiac ultrasound, is a test that uses sound waves to examine and create images of the heart muscle and heart valves from outside the body. Also known as a heart sonogram, this test can help your physician see how blood flows through your heart chambers and heart valves.

During this noninvasive test, the patient simply lies on their left side while a sonographer takes ultrasound images of their chest.

Patient Prep Instructions: No special prep is needed prior to this test.

Why Choose an IAC-Accredited Echocardiography Facility?

When you seek care at a health system accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for echocardiography, you gain important benefits:

1. Confidence in Quality: Accreditation means the facility meets strict standards for imaging quality, safety, and accuracy. Your heart test is performed using proven protocols and reviewed by qualified professionals.

2. Experienced Team: IAC accreditation requires staff to have specialized training and ongoing education. You can trust that your care team understands the latest techniques and guidelines.

3. Accurate Results: High-quality images lead to better diagnoses. This helps your doctor create the right treatment plan for you without unnecessary delays or repeat tests.

4. Commitment to Safety: Accredited facilities follow best practices to protect your health during testing, including proper equipment maintenance and infection control.

5. Continuous Improvement: Accredited programs are regularly evaluated to maintain excellence. This means the care you receive is held to the highest standards year after year.
