The Valley Health Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation tower at Winchester Medical Center is set to open in 2027. This modern facility will provide a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies, as well as advanced orthotic and prosthetic solutions.
At the end of last year, a 2017 Nissan Maxima became one of the new tower’s unique additions. Donated by Tri-State Nissan from Marlow Auto Group, the vehicle was lifted on the building’s second floor and is set to play a key role in patient rehabilitation.

Why include a car in a rehab setting? Because everyday tasks matter and including a car in rehabilitation helps patients practice important everyday activities. With access to the car, they can learn how to get in and out, put groceries in the trunk, and handle other tasks they'll encounter after rehab. The car is placed on a hydraulic lift that lets therapists adjust its height to match each person's own vehicle, making training both safe and realistic.
This gift was made possible through the generosity of Tri-State Nissan and the support of Valley Health Foundations. We are grateful to Emily Marlow Beck, president of Marlow Auto Group; Greg Strosnider, used car director at Tri-State Nissan; and their entire team for preparing the car for hospital use. Their work included a full interior strip-down, deep cleaning, and safety checks to ensure a sterile environment for patients.
The new rehabilitation tower, developed in partnership with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation, will bring nationally recognized expertise to the Shenandoah Valley. Together, we are creating a space where patients receive advanced therapy, compassionate support, and the tools they need to return to the activities they love.
