Auxiliary Attic Thrift Shop Closes After More Than Two Decades

After more than two decades of bringing joy, connection, and purpose to our community, the Auxiliary Attic Thrift Shop closed its doors on Thursday, January 15. Since opening in 2002, The Attic has been much more than a thrift store—it’s been a place where generosity met gratitude, where volunteers and donors turned simple treasures into hope for countless patients and families.

“We are thankful for the support of Winchester Medical Center leadership and all those who have made The Attic a special place over the years,” said Tootie Rinker, president of the Auxiliary Board. Proceeds have fueled initiatives like the Hope Fund at the Cancer Center and the Stronger Together Campaign, contributing over $1 million to strengthen care at WMC.

Although The Attic is closed, the WMC Auxiliary will continue to plan new fundraising opportunities, in addition to running the WMC gift shop and hosting the annual Lights of Love.

To every volunteer, donor, and shopper who made The Attic a special place: Thank you. Your impact will be felt for years to come.
