Horizon Goodwill and Valley Health continue to work together through the Get On Board program to help residents in our region prepare for steady employment. The program is supported in part by a Valley Health Community Partnership Grant. This support reflects our commitment to strengthen the local workforce and promote long‑term economic stability across Virginia and West Virginia.
The program recently reached an important milestone with the hiring of its first Valley Health participant. Tyler Pender completed the job‑readiness training offered through Horizon Goodwill and joined the Nutrition Services team after a structured onboarding process that provides guidance throughout his early employment experience.
“The Get On Board program gave me the training and confidence I needed to succeed. I felt supported at every step, and I am proud to be part of Valley Health,” Pender said.
This early success shows how coordinated community partnerships can expand access to employment while helping organizations connect with applicants who are prepared and eager to work. Get On Board offers residents a path to build skills and move into stable roles, while helping Valley Health meet ongoing workforce needs in the communities we serve.
