Valley Health President and CEO Mark Nantz Named to Virginia Business “2025 Power List”

Fourth Consecutive Recognition Highlights Statewide Healthcare Leadership

Mark Nantz, President and CEO of Valley Health, has been honored for the fourth consecutive year in Virginia Business magazine’s prestigious “Virginia 500” list. This annual listing recognizes top leaders across business, government, and higher education in the Commonwealth. Nantz is one of 30 distinguished leaders selected from the Healthcare/Biotech/Pharmaceutical sector.

“It is an honor to be part of such a distinguished group of leaders working to uplift the lives of Virginians across the Commonwealth,” Nantz said. “As we strive to improve access to high-quality, compassionate care, I am inspired by the dedication of our caregivers—not only at Valley Health, but throughout Virginia. Their passion and commitment are the foundation of healthier communities and a stronger future for all.”

Nantz oversees six hospitals, including two in West Virginia and four in Virginia, more than 75 medical practices and Urgent Care Centers and over 6,000 employees. He joined Valley Health in 2020 and his focus is on ensuring a culture of employee and patient safety, financial stability, and a strong connection to purpose. He also serves as the Chair of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA) board.

“Working with Mark over the last few years has truly been an honor. His ingenuity and strategic insight have left a lasting impact, and this award is a well-earned recognition of his contributions,” said Harry Smith, Chairman of the Valley Health Board of Trustees. “His dedication and consistent commitment have been an inspiration, and I couldn’t be prouder to see him celebrated in this way.”

Individuals are not nominated for the Power List, but are instead selected by the magazine’s editorial staff.
