As we celebrate the milestones of 2025 and prepare to step into 2026, Valley Health remains committed to serving our community with compassion, innovation, and excellence.
Before we fully embrace what’s ahead, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights and accomplishments that made 2025 a meaningful year for Valley Health.
January
Valley Health announced two new healthcare facilities in Winchester, VA, and Ranson, WV, breaking ground in December 2024 with completion expected by fall 2025. The Winchester site offered family primary care and an outpatient lab in a 19,000-square-foot space, while the Ranson facility replaced an existing practice, expanded services, and introduced specialty care to Jefferson County. These projects reflected Valley Health’s commitment to improving access and quality of care in the region.

February
Warren Memorial Hospital began using the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System for robotic-assisted general surgeries. This advanced technology allowed surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision, less pain, and faster recovery for patients. The system gave doctors enhanced control and visualization, making minimally invasive surgery more effective. WMH’s adoption of the da Vinci robot marked a major step forward in offering high-quality care to the local community.
March
Three Valley Health hospitals were named among the Top 100 Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Page Memorial Hospital and Hampshire Memorial Hospital were recognized as Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals, while Warren Memorial Hospital was honored as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital. These awards were based on performance data including quality, outcomes, and patient satisfaction, highlighting Valley Health’s commitment to providing safe, effective, and accessible care to its communities.

- Valley Health Broke Ground on New Rehabilitation Tower at Winchester Medical Center
- Warren Memorial Hospital welcomed 75 local students for an event designed to showcase healthcare as a rewarding career and spotlight the hospital’s commitment to innovation. The visit included an introduction to the hospital’s two state-of-the-art surgical robots, which the students had the opportunity to ‘meet’ and name.
April
Cardiologists at Winchester Medical Center became the first in Northern Virginia to perform the UNICORN procedure alongside a trans-aortic valve replacement (TAVR). This advanced technique helped reduce the risk of blocking blood flow to the heart during a valve-in-valve replacement by using radiofrequency energy to create a safe path for the new valve. The first patient treated with this method was at high risk and responded well to the procedure, marking a major step forward in heart care for the region.

Winchester Medical Center was named one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals for 2025 by Newsweek and Statista, recognizing its high-quality care for mothers and newborns. The award was based on strong performance in safety, patient experience, and clinical outcomes, including low complication and C-section rates. As the region’s largest maternity hospital, WMC welcomed nearly 2,500 babies each year and offered advanced services like high-risk pregnancy care and a Level III NICU.

June
Valley Health broke ground on the Behavioral Health Pavilion at Winchester Medical Center, a new facility designed to bring together mental health services for adults and youth in one location. Funded in part by the Stronger Together campaign, the pavilion aimed to offer therapy, substance use counseling, and outpatient programs, along with a Digital Health Center to improve access to care. The project was a major step toward improving mental health support in the community and was expected to be completed by late summer 2026.

July
Warren Memorial Hospital expanded its heart care services to better serve the Front Royal and Warren County communities. Cardiologist Dr. Neal Gaither, along with a rotating team of specialists, began offering daily visits, emergency support, and advanced procedures like stress testing, echocardiography, and stent placement. This expansion brought high-quality cardiovascular care closer to home, supported by Valley Health’s partnership with Winchester Medical Center’s Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center.

- State-of-the-art Spinal Surgery at Valley Health
- Valley Health graduated the first three students from the Valley Health's Cardiac and Vascular Sonography Program.
August
Winchester Medical Center’s Breast Center was re-accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers in 2025, continuing its recognition for high-quality, comprehensive breast care since 2009.

- Valley Health announced the opening of its newest outpatient medical facility in Winchester. This expansion on the east side of Winchester and Frederick County will significantly enhance access to primary care and laboratory services for local residents. Learn more here.

Valley Health announced the opening of Valley Health Fertility, a new practice that brings advanced fertility care to the Shenandoah Valley. The new practice will offer specialized care for women and couples facing fertility challenges and reproductive health concerns, providing advanced fertility services closer to home.
