Winchester Medical Center Breast Center has once again received accredited status from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The Breast Center has achieved this prestigious recognition since 2009.
Programs accredited by the NAPBC are focused on facilitating multidisciplinary, integrated, and comprehensive breast disease services. NAPBC-accredited centers are more likely to meet key breast cancer quality measures and are associated with higher performance on breast quality measures.
Achieving accreditation by the NAPBC shows that a hospital’s care team is committed to providing the best care throughout the entire course of treatment, according to the NAPBC website.
To achieve accreditation, a site visit was conducted at WMC in June. According to the accreditation report: “This program has a passionate and knowledgeable staff who come together and make this a model of breast cancer care. They have strong leadership in their [breast program director] and a commitment by their administration. … To go along with this, they are providing excellent state-of-the art multidisciplinary care for their patients. They are an asset to their patients and community.”
As a participant of the NAPBC, WMC’s breast center has also earned distinction as an American College of Surgeons Surgical Quality Partner. This designation recognizes that an institution is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in surgical care.
