Valley Health is pleased to announce the launch of a new Bedside Reading Program, offering patients, family members in waiting rooms and caregivers complimentary access to hundreds of books and podcasts during their time at the hospital. This innovative initiative enhances the hospital experience by bringing added comfort and thoughtful amenities that support patient well-being.
Patients can easily access a curated digital library by scanning a QR code located at their bedside—no login or personal information required. These QR codes are also available at physician practices and Urgent Care Centers, with handouts placed on inpatient beds and flyers displayed on tabletops throughout waiting areas. The platform is designed to be seamless and secure, offering instant access to a wide variety of genres and topics with just a tap. For those who wish to continue enjoying the service after discharge, a free account can be created to retain access to their favorite titles and podcasts.
This program is also available to Valley Health caregivers, who can scan the same QR code to enjoy the reading platform during breaks or downtime, promoting wellness and relaxation throughout the hospital community.
“We are excited to bring this elevated experience to our patients and caregivers,” shared Valley Health Vice President of Operations and Oncology Service Lines Susan Lessar. “Hospital stays can be stressful, and we believe that access to enriching content—whether it’s a captivating novel or a calming podcast—can make a meaningful difference.”
This program is made possible through the generous support of Valley Health Foundations, which continues to invest in initiatives that enhance the patient and caregiver experience across our community.
The Bedside Reading Program reflects Valley Health’s ongoing commitment to bringing exceptional service to the region by enhancing patient comfort and caregivers’ well-being through thoughtful, innovative services.
