Family Connections: Chrissa Allen & Faith Athey

We like to think of Valley Health as one large family, and nothing personifies that more than when family members work together in our health system. 

Let's meet mother and daughter duo Chrissa Allen and Faith Athey, who both work night shift on 5 West, GI/Endoscopy, at Winchester Medical Center.  

Chrissa, RN, Charge Nurse:

What do you like about working with your daughter?

I love working with my daughter. Family is the most important thing with us. We depend on each other for support and strength as the jobs we do are both demanding and stressful. I actually introduced Faith to health care because of the great care and compassion she has for others. I strive to be a good role model for her in everything I do. Now we share the same goal for our patient care and strive to be the best we can be for each other, our coworkers, and our patients. 

Why did you choose Valley Health?

I chose Valley Health because I did my clinical at WMC and fell in love with the art of nursing. The resources and knowledge obtained while working here all these years is priceless. Now I am able to share that with others.

Faith, CNA:

What do you like about working with your mother?

I love being able to work with my mother. She was the one who guided me in the right direction with starting my career in health care. I have learned so many things over the years while working together, especially since we hold different titles. She is not only able to help guide myself in our personal lives but also in my professional life as well. Family is the most important thing to me, and it makes me so happy I get to share both aspects of my life with such an amazing nurse!

Valley Health is heavily respected and has such an amazing reputation in the area that I’m from. I knew as soon as I was done my course to get my CNA I wanted to apply. I have been with Valley Health since 2016 and I still love coming to a safe and organized atmosphere every shift to care for my patients to the best of my ability!
