Advancements in Minimally Invasive Care

At Urology Clinic of Winchester | Valley Health, an expert team of surgeons uses state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgical techniques to transform the patient experience.

Combining these techniques with our knowledge and expertise, we are able to enhance the care and recovery of patients who present with a variety of urological conditions, including enlarged prostate, kidney cancers, and kidney stones.

Minimally invasive approaches, such as our laser and robotic technologies, improve quality of life without exposing patients to additional risks or lengthy recoveries. Patients typically experience a shorter recovery time, fewer complications, and overall better outcomes when compared to open surgery.

Robot-assisted techniques require only a few tiny incisions to accommodate telescopes and ports, which provide an in-depth 3D view of patient anatomy. Tiny surgical instruments are attached to robotic arms, and our surgical experts control and utilize these precision instruments from a console. We are able to perform complex, sophisticated surgeries using a couple of small, 1-centimeter incisions.

The laser technique, called HoLEP (holmium laser enucleation of the prostate), is performed via telescope and removes excess tissue without ever making a skin incision. Patients experience reduced pain while avoiding the risk of wound infection and bleeding that can result from an incision.

Patients who have undergone robotic-assisted and laser procedures often walk around and begin to feel better on the day of their surgery.

Overall, our patients at the Urology Clinic of Winchester see a decrease in:

  • Healing time
  • Blood loss
  • Pain
  • Post-surgery restrictions
