“I knew from my first interview that there were bountiful opportunities within the Valley Health System and have constantly felt supported in my journey. We are encouraged to advocate for state-of-the-art training, participate in outreach/community events, and foster our interests/strengths.”

How long have you been with Valley Health?

I’ve been with Valley Health since March 2020, when I joined as a clinical therapist. I lightheartedly joke that I joined the week the world shut down – by Friday, schools, daycares and many other businesses were closing their doors. Our incredible team pivoted quickly and developed telehealth services overnight so we could continue serving our community throughout the pandemic with mental health services.

Did you have any previous roles prior to your current role, and how have they helped you develop your career here?

Prior to joining Valley Health, I worked in various direct care and management settings, including foster care, schools, and home-based programs. When I joined Valley Health, I immediately began working with young adults, but we did not have an outpatient behavioral health program for youth and adolescents.

In late 2022, our director approached me about an opportunity to develop a program for adolescents, and I knew instantly this was the opportunity I had been hoping for! I am now the supervisor of the CATALIST program, which serves youth ages 12-18 with substance use and/or mental health needs.

My years of experience in leadership have given me the tools to develop this new program, promote it and provide much needed treatment to our community.

How has Valley Health helped you grow professionally?

I knew from my first interview that there were bountiful opportunities within the Valley Health System and have constantly felt supported in my journey. We are encouraged to advocate for state-of-the-art training, participate in outreach/community events, and foster our interests/strengths. My direct supervisors have been nothing short of supportive, encouraging, and compassionate over the years!

Each and every day is an opportunity to stretch myself and grow. I honestly can say I learn something new every day and I have used that knowledge to continue chasing my dreams.

Valley Health’s Outpatient Behavioral Services are growing in the region.

If you are a behavioral health professional, join our team! We offer generous sign-on bonuses and licensure supervision for employees seeking to become licensed clinical social workers or licensed professional counselors!
