The Medical Radiography Program is a 40hr/week four-semester (2 year) program. Students will begin evening shift rotations sometime during their second semester.
The Computed Tomography Program is a 24-week secondary pathway curriculum offered to registered technologists seeking to expand their skill set.
Serving our community by educating caring, competent entry-level radiologic technologists.
The Medical Radiography Program offered at Winchester Medical Center is a certificate program which is accredited by JRCERT, Joint review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. (www.jrcert.org) In 2022, the Program earned an 8 year accreditation, the longest award granted by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The next review by the JRCERT is anticipated in 2030. Upon successful completion of the certificate program, graduates are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national registry exam.
The curriculum provides a combination of clinical and didactic learning within the hospital setting for the radiology students. Students receive instruction in patient care, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, positioning, physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, and radiographic exposure.
The
Computed Tomography program also provides both clinical and didactic instruction. Those who complete
the program are eligible to take the ARRT exam to earn credentials in
computed tomography.
Both the Medical Radiography Program and the Computed Tomography Program
are certified to operate in the Commonwealth of Virginia by SCHEV, State
Council of Higher Education for Virginia. (www.schev.edu)
