Make Your Health a Priority

Make Your Health a Priority

Written by Karen Wade, MD.

For many women, juggling work and family can mean that we often forget to prioritize our own health.

While it is a good rule of thumb to schedule a routine visit to your primary care provider for an annual wellness checkup, it is also a good idea to visit a gynecologist each year. As a gynecologist, I see women of all ages and stress the importance of routine gynecological exams. Having an annual exam will help ensure our physical and reproductive health. It also decreases the risk of unintended pregnancy, pelvic infections, and can potentially detect diseases like ovarian and breast cancer.

Making ourselves a priority is never easy, but we should all be conscientious about our health, early detection and learning ways to reduce health risks.

Karen Wade, MD provides comprehensive gynecology services including well women exams, contraception management, treatment for abnormal pap tests and issues related to menopause. Dr. Wade has practiced in Winchester for over 22 years and has expanded her reach to serve local women in the communities of Romney and Berkeley Springs, WV.
