War Memorial Hospital Visitor Information

COVID-19 Visitation Exceptions

For the safety of our patients, staff and community at this time social visits remain restricted. We are allowing patients to choose if they wish to have Care Partner(s) who provide physical and emotional support. Only one care partner is allowed in the building at a time.

Due to increased COVID-19 rates, Valley Health is making the following changes, effective November 21:

System-Wide Hospital Care Partner Policies

  • One Care Partner is allowed in the facility per patient, per day.
  • Care partners may switch-out after a 24-hour period.
  • All Care Partners must check in and check out daily and must have a valid photo I.D.

Health screening and hand hygiene will occur upon entrance to War Memorial Hospital. Care Partners may enter the hospital 8am-8pm, seven days per week. Masks must be worn throughout all hospital public areas and when the health care team is in a patient’s room.

Emergency Department

Patients may have one support person. Upon inpatient admission, patients may choose if they would like their one support person to become a Care Partner.

Inpatient Procedural/Surgical Areas

Support persons not permitted at this time.

Palliative Care

One Care Partner is permitted to provide decision making in regards to advanced care planning.

End of Life (EOL) Patients

Two Care Partners (family member or friend) may be at the patient’s bedside at a time. While there are no visiting hour restrictions for EOL visits, time will be managed within reason by the clinical team. If requested, clergy will be allowed to administer last rites or other religious end of life customs.

Long-Term Care Unit

War Memorial Hospital Long-Term Care is not allowing Care Partner visitation.
