Medical Radiography Program

Winchester Medical Center’s Medical Radiography Program is a full-time (40hr/week) four-semester (2 year) program. Program hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with varying shifts for some clinical rotations. Students will begin evening shift rotations sometime during their second semester.

Our Mission

Providing healthcare excellence by educating caring, competent entry level radiologic technologists.

About Us

The Medical Radiography Program offered at Winchester Medical Center is a certificate program. Our graduates are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national registry exam. Once the ARRT exam is passed the graduate becomes a registered radiologic technologist.

The curriculum provides a combination of clinical and didactic learning within the hospital setting for the radiology students. Students receive instruction in patient care, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, positioning, physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, and radiographic exposure.

How Do I Become a Registered Radiologic Technologist?

Radiologic technologists are qualified to perform diagnostic imaging exams. Registered radiologic technologists RT(R), must complete a 2 year formal education through a community college program or an accredited hospital-based program, and pass the ARRT national certification examination. They must earn continuing education credits to stay active in the radiology field.

RT(R)’s may specialize in a specific modality, such as computed tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, bone densitometry, or special procedures.

Note: Ultrasound and nuclear medicine technologists require additional formal training after graduating and passing the ARRT exam for radiologic technology.
