Resident Salaries and CME Allowance
-
PGY-1: $62,000 + $8,000 relocation bonus + $2,000 moving expenses + $2,000 for
continuing medical education (CME)

PGY-2: $64,000 + $2,000 CME
-
PGY-3: $66,000 + $2,000 CME
Paid Leave
-
Annual leave: 21 paid days per year for vacation, holidays, illness, or personal time

CME leave:
- PGY-1: 2 additional days
- PGY-2: 3 additional days
- PGY-3: 5 additional days
Insurance and Coverage

Health and dental insurance: Provided at no cost for you and your family

Life insurance: Two times your annual salary, rounded to the nearest $1,000 (up to $500,000),
at no cost

Malpractice insurance: Provided while you are in the residency program

Disability insurance: Available at no cost to you

Workers’ compensation: Coverage for job-related injuries or illness
Licensing and Exam Fee Reimbursement

Virginia license fees:
- Limited license: $55 initial / $35 renewal
- Permanent license: $302 reimbursed for PGY-2 and PGY-3
- Drug license: $888 reimbursed for PGY-2 and PGY-3
- Renewal of permanent license reimbursed if required during residency

Exam fees:
- USMLE Step 3: $910 reimbursed
- COMLEX Step 3: $925 reimbursed
- ABFM board exam: $1,300 reimbursed (late fees not covered)
- ACOFP board exam: $500 reimbursed (late fees not covered)
