Valley Health provides medically supervised exercise programs to help you regain strength and stamina after heart, lung, or peripheral vascular conditions. These programs improve physical health and emotional well-being, reduce the risk of future complications, and support greater independence.
Who Can Benefit?
Cardiac Rehabilitation -You may qualify if you have experienced:
- Heart attack
- Bypass surgery
- Valve repair or replacement
- Coronary artery stenting
- Heart transplant
- Stable angina (chest pain)
Pulmonary Rehabilitation- You may qualify if you have:
- COPD
- Asthma
- Chronic bronchitis
- Emphysema
- Interstitial lung disease
- Sarcoidosis
- Lung transplant
- Recovery from COVID-19
Peripheral Vascular Disease Rehabilitation
You may qualify if you have peripheral vascular disease with pain in your legs or arms during activity.
How to Get Started
You need a physician referral to join any cardiac, pulmonary, or peripheral vascular rehabilitation program. Most major insurance plans cover these services. Ask your doctor if rehabilitation is right for you.
What to Expect
Cardiac Rehabilitation
- 12-week outpatient program
- Exercise three times a week using treadmills, bicycles, and other equipment
- Continuous monitoring of heart rate, ECG, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and glucose
- Monthly education classes on heart health, medication, nutrition, exercise, and stress management
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
- Nine-week outpatient program
- Exercise twice a week using treadmills, NuSteps, bicycles, and resistance training
- Monitoring of oxygen levels, heart rate, blood pressure, and glucose
- Education on managing chronic lung disease, reducing shortness of breath, and improving daily activities
Peripheral Vascular Disease Rehabilitation
- 12-week outpatient program
- Exercise three times a week, primarily on a treadmill
- Monitoring of heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and glucose
- Education on managing vascular disease and improving walking ability
