Cardiac CT Calcium Scoring
Available in Winchester, Front Royal and Woodstock, Virginia
A cardiac CT scan for calcium scoring measures calcium buildup in the coronary arteries. These arteries carry oxygen-rich blood to your heart muscle. The test helps your doctor understand if you have coronary artery disease (CAD) and how advanced it may be—even if you do not have symptoms.
Why You Might Need This Test
Your doctor may recommend calcium scoring if you have risk factors for heart disease but no signs of CAD. This screening is noninvasive and uses a low-dose CT scan. The scan takes about 10 to 15 minutes and requires a physician’s order.
