Who We Help

Our outpatient programs are designed for individuals who are medically stable but need regular mental health support. You may benefit if you’re experiencing:

How to Get Started

You can refer yourself or be referred by a doctor, therapist or care facility. We accept most insurance plans and can help you understand your coverage.

The first step of the intake process is to complete a confidential assessment. Our program utilizes questionnaires that are sent via text message or email. You may also schedule a time to use one of the devices at the program to fill out these questionnaires. Our team will get a better understanding of your needs and help find the best outpatient program.

Program Options

We offer outpatient options based on age and needs:

  • Adolescent
  • Adult Program (ages 18–54): Afternoon sessions focused on symptom management, emotional regulation and recovery planning.
  • Senior Program (ages 55+): Morning sessions tailored to older adults, with support for age-related challenges and coexisting medical conditions.

Adult and Senior programs include:

  • Individual and group therapy
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
  • Education about mental health and wellness
  • Discharge planning and referrals for ongoing care

Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health Services

Psychiatric Medication Management

If medication may help you feel better, our psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners will guide you through the process. During your visit, your provider will:

  • Review your symptoms
  • Discuss treatment options
  • Explain the risks and benefits of medication
  • Answer your questions

If your needs change, we may recommend a higher level of care to support your recovery.

Senior Outpatient Program

This program is designed for adults age 65 and older who need more support than individual therapy but do not require intensive outpatient care.

It may help if you are experiencing:

  • Depression or anxiety
  • Trauma or grief
  • Isolation or loss

Services include:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Psychiatric medication management

Sessions are scheduled based on your treatment plan. Most participants stay in the program for up to six months. You’ll learn coping strategies, connect with peers and take part in activities that support physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellness.

Mental Health Therapy

Individual therapy helps reduce symptoms and improve your ability to function in daily life. You’ll work with a licensed therapist to:

  • Assess your symptoms
  • Set goals
  • Build skills for managing stress, emotions and relationships

Therapy is available to adults who are also receiving medication management through our program. Our team includes:

  • Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW)
  • Residents in Counseling
  • Supervisees in Social Work

Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (MHIOP)

MHIOP is a structured program for adults who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy but do not require hospitalization. It may be right for you if:

  • You are stepping down from inpatient care
  • You are at risk of psychiatric hospitalization
  • You need more structure than weekly therapy provides

MHIOP includes:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Medication management

You’ll attend at least three days per week, for three hours each day. Some patients attend up to five days per week if needed. Most stay in the program for six to ten weeks. Our clinicians specialize in treating anxiety, depression and trauma. We do not treat substance use disorders. To participate, you must have at least 90 days of sobriety from alcohol, cannabis and other substances.

After admission, our team will create a personalized care plan. We consider your mental health needs, developmental stage, family involvement and behavioral goals. As your symptoms improve, we’ll help you transition to traditional outpatient care or connect you with outside providers.

Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Program (OP SUD)

This program provides screening, assessment and treatment for adults age 18 and older. We use the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) matrix model and the CATALIST framework to guide care. Services are tailored to your needs and risk level.

You may benefit from:

  • Individual therapy
  • Peer recovery coaching
  • Weekly recovery groups

This program is ideal for early intervention, ongoing treatment or recovery support. We welcome individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring disorders (COD).

Substance Use Intensive Outpatient Program (SU IOP) – Coming Soon

Our upcoming SU IOP will offer a higher level of care for adults who need more structure than traditional outpatient therapy. This program is designed for individuals who:

  • Are stepping down from inpatient rehab or detox
  • Need a primary treatment option for substance use
  • Require more support than weekly therapy provides

You’ll attend 3 to 5 days per week, for 3 to 4 hours each day, over 9 to 12 weeks. Services include:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Peer recovery coaching

Treatment is based on the ASAM matrix model and addresses both substance use and mental health symptoms.

Outpatient Behavioral Health for Children and Adolescents

We also offer outpatient care for children and teens who need support for mental health challenges.

Psychiatric Medication Management

Our psychiatric team will assess your child’s symptoms and discuss whether medication may help. We explain the risks and benefits and answer your questions. If needed, we may recommend a higher level of care.

Case Management Services

Case managers help families access medical and mental health services. We assist with:

  • Planning and coordinating care
  • Connecting with providers and resources
  • Discharge planning and follow-up

Outpatient Mental Health Therapy

Individual therapy helps children and teens manage symptoms and improve functioning at home, school and in the community. Therapy is available to those receiving medication management. Our team includes:

  • Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW)
  • Residents in Counseling
  • Supervisees in Social Work

Adolescent Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (MH IOP)

This program supports teens ages 12 to 17 who are struggling with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Suicidal thoughts or self-harm

MH IOP is a step down from inpatient care or a step up from traditional therapy. Teens attend 3 to 5 days per week, for 2 to 4 hours each day, over 6 to 18 weeks.

Services include:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Parent coaching

Parent or guardian participation is required. Teens continue attending school and return home each evening, while receiving structured care during the day.

Substance Use Services for Adolescents

Valley Health offers outpatient and intensive outpatient programs for adolescents ages 12 to 17 who are at risk for or actively experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our services are designed to support early intervention, treatment and long-term recovery.

Early Intervention Program

This outpatient program helps adolescents who may be at risk for developing substance-related problems. It is also appropriate for teens who show concerning behaviors but do not yet meet the criteria for a substance use diagnosis.

Services include:

  • Screening and assessment
  • Individual therapy
  • Peer recovery coaching
  • Case management
  • Weekly early intervention group

Treatment is guided by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) matrix model and the CATALIST framework. Care is delivered both in our clinic and in community settings.

Outpatient Substance Use Program

This program supports adolescents with diagnosed substance use disorders (SUD) or co-occurring disorders (COD). It includes services for both the adolescent and their primary caregivers.

Services include:

  • Peer recovery coaching
  • Case management
  • Weekly youth recovery group

Treatment is based on the ASAM matrix model and uses evidence-based approaches to support recovery and improve mental health.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Adolescent Substance Use IOP is designed for teens who need more structure than traditional outpatient care. It may be used:

  • After detox or inpatient rehab
  • As a primary treatment option
  • As part of a continuing care plan

Teens attend 3 to 5 days per week, for 2 to 4 hours each day, over 6 to 18 weeks. Services include:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Peer recovery coaching

Parent or guardian participation is required. This program allows teens to continue attending school and living at home while receiving structured care.
