Valley Health Celebrates Inaugural “Nurses of Tomorrow” Scholarship Recipients

Valley Health proudly honored its first-ever Nurses of Tomorrow Scholarship recipients on August 14, 2025, at a special ceremony at Winchester Medical Center. The new scholarship program reflects Valley Health’s commitment to supporting the next generation of nurses—offering not only financial assistance, but also mentorship, clinical training, and career development throughout their educational journey and into their professional careers.

The Nurses of Tomorrow Scholarship provides up to $25,000 per recipient: $20,000 over the course of a baccalaureate nursing degree and an additional $5,000 in their final year. More than a financial award, the scholarship represents a promise to walk alongside recipients as they prepare to join the nursing profession.

Recipients were selected from a competitive pool of applicants from Shenandoah University, Shepherd University, and James Madison University for their dedication to patient care, personal stories of service and commitment to the nursing profession.

Each recipient embodies the values that define Valley Health and reflects the culture we strive to uphold and shares a common thread: a personal commitment to caring for others, often shaped by life experience. Some grew up in families of nurses, first responders or caregivers. Others found purpose by supporting loved ones through illness or special needs.

Their paths to nursing are varied. Some have worked in emergency departments or volunteered as firefighters. Others served as caregivers or certified nursing assistants during the pandemic. Each has shown resilience, empathy and a strong desire to meet people where they are—offering compassion, dignity and hope. Together, they represent the next generation of nurses who will help shape the future of healthcare in our communities.
