Who can use MyChart? MyChart is free online portal available to all patients treated at a Valley Health location and family or guardians who are granted proxy access?

What is proxy access? Access to another person’s MyChart account which can be granted to individuals who have authority to view that individual’s medical information. A proxy consent form must be completed in order to request proxy access.

How do I sign up for MyChart?

There are three ways that you can sign up for MyChart:

  1. Sign up at Valley Health:
    1. The staff will assist you in signing up for a MyChart account during your visit at one of our 6 Valley Health hospitals, Urgent Care or Quick Care or you may sign up at one of Valley Health clinics.
  2. Sign up online:
    1. Visit https://valleyhealthlink.com/mychart
    2. Click on the green activate your account button located at the center of the page.
    3. If you have an activation, which can be found on your enrollment letter, bill or the last page of your visit summary.
    4. Follow the instructions to create an account.
  3. If you do not have an activation code you can go to the MyChart website and click the blue “Sign Up Online” link and request your activation code.

Do I need an email address to sign up for MyChart?

If you have an activation code or signing up in the clinic you do not need an email address to sign up for MyChart. However, if you are signing up from our MyChart website and you do not have an activation code you will need to provide an email address for us to send your activation code to you. Additionally, if you want to receive email notifications whenever you have updated information available in MyChart, you will need to provide an email address and make sure your notifications are turned on under your MyChart settings.

Is the MyChart app secure?

Yes, Security is a crucial component to the MyChart iPhone and Android apps, which uses the same bank-level security that is used for other sensitive data transferred via the Internet.

If I use MyChart to message my doctor, when can I expect a reply?

You can expect a reply from your health care provider within two business days. MyChart messages should not be sent to providers for urgent or emergency needs.

What if I forget my user ID or password?

There are links available right under the MyChart logon “Forgot your MyChart Logon” and “Forgot your MyChart Password” these will assist you to recover and or reset them. If additional assistance is needed please call the phone number listed on the MyChart Web-site.

What is proxy access?

Access to another person’s MyChart account which can be granted to individuals who have authority to view that individual’s medical information. A proxy consent form must be completed in order to request proxy access.

Please note:

  • Under the age of 12: Parents/guardians will have full access to all aspects of the child’s MyChart account, including appointments, medications, test results and more. A parent or guardian can request access to their child’s record from the parent’s MyChart page. In MyChart go to the “Settings” page and then click the “Family Access Link”, complete the online Valley Health Proxy access form and submit it.
  • Ages 12-18: If the parents/guardians previously had access to the minor’s account, access will be removed on the child’s 12th birthday.
  • 18 years or older: As needed, Adults can request access to another adult’s record through our VH Health Information Management Office.
