War Memorial Hospital Community Health Fair

War Memorial Hospital Community Health Fair

The community is encouraged to join Valley Health War Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 21 from 8 a.m. – 12 noon for our Community Health Fair. The event will be held rain or shine at War Memorial Hospital, 1 Healthy Way, Berkeley Springs, WV.

“In addition to health and wellness exhibits and free health screenings, the Community Health Fair is the perfect opportunity to meet medical professionals outside the traditional hospital or office walls,” says Heather Sigel, Vice President, War Memorial Hospital.”

This year, War Memorial Laboratory staff are offering comprehensive bloodwork FREE to the first 100 individuals, compliments of the War Memorial Hospital Development Fund. The Community Wellness Panel includes a complete blood count (CBC); (CMP) comprehensive metabolic panel measuring sugar (glucose) level, electrolytes, kidney and liver function; a lipid profile (HDL, LDL and Triglycerides) and (TSH) thyroid gland test. A 12-hour fast is required for blood work.

Free screenings available at the Health Fair include balance and falls, blood pressure, body composition analysis, hearing and vision tests, pulse oximetry, metabolic age, BMI and early childhood development screenings offered by Starting Points. Seated massage and a spin bike demonstration will also be available.

Back by popular demand, a Teddy Bear Clinic will be offered, where kids will receive a FREE stuffed bear (while supplies last) to accompany them throughout the health fair. There will also be a chance to explore emergency and specialized vehicles and a helicopter, plus a drawing to win one of four FREE mountain bikes.

The public is encouraged to bring items to donate to the Backpack Program for Morgan County. A list of items needed may be obtained by contacting Starting Points of Morgan County.

A free light breakfast, as well as other prizes and giveaways, will be available while they last.
