Hampshire Native Returns to Practice Family Medicine in Romney

Valley Health Hampshire Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome family medicine physician Andy Wilcox, MD, to the staff of its Multispecialty Clinic on the hospital campus. Dr. Wilcox began seeing patients earlier this month.

A native of Hampshire County, Dr. Wilcox graduated with honors from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from West Virginia University School of Medicine, and completed a residency in family medicine with West Virginia University Rural Family Medicine Residency Program in Harpers Ferry, WV. He most recently practiced in Cumberland, MD.

“I’m very excited to be back home, closer to my family and my wife’s family,” Wilcox said. “I’m especially pleased to be able to help fill a need for primary care physicians in my home community.” He and his wife, Sarah, a native of Fort Ashby, have a three year old daughter, Alauria.

Dr. Wilcox is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is licensed by the West Virginia and Maryland Boards of Medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the West Virginia State Medical Association and the West Virginia Academy of Family Physicians. His clinical interests include preventive medicine, sports medicine, adult medicine and pediatrics.

“On behalf of the hospital’s administration, we’re very pleased Dr. Wilcox has come back to this community he knows so well,” said Gerald Bechamps, MD, Vice President, Medical Affairs at HMH. “He’s well-trained, friendly, and enthusiastic about serving families here. We think it’s a win:win:win for him, for us and for the community.”
