Family Connections: Elaine & Kerri
At Valley Health, we love to highlight family members who work together and who share the same passion for patient care. Elaine is the marketing applications analyst at the WMC System Support Building. Her mom, Kerri, is an interventional radiologic technologist in Interventional Radiology at WMC.
Why did you join Valley Health?
Kerri: I joined Valley Health in April of 2021. I moved from Michigan to be closer to my daughter, which brought me to Valley Health.
Elaine: I joined Valley Health in 2019 with a goal of working in healthcare, even though I wasn't entirely sure what path I wanted to take. I knew that if I was given an opportunity, I would embrace it wholeheartedly. Over the years, I've been fortunate to take on new opportunities and challenges that have helped me grow both professionally and personally. Those experiences have shaped me into the person I am today, and I look forward to continuing my journey with Valley Health.
What do you enjoy most about working at Valley Health?
Kerri: What I love most about working at Valley Health is the people. It genuinely feels like a family — from my team to leadership, everyone shows up for each other and for our patients. We take pride in taking care of our own community, our neighbors and friends, and you feel that difference every day. I'm proud to work somewhere that puts compassion first.
Elaine: I love the people. We spend a large part of our lives at work, so being surrounded by supportive, caring, and talented individuals makes all the difference.
What do you like about working with your mom/daughter?
Kerri: I love being able to grab a quick cup of coffee or lunch with her. If either of us has a bad day, we are just a few steps away from a hug. I also love watching her grow here at Valley Health.
Elaine: One of the best parts of working at Valley Health is knowing my mom is never far away. On both the good days and the challenging ones, she's just a hug away. Any opportunity we get to grab coffee or lunch together makes my day, because any extra time spent with my mom means the world to me. I will always cherish these little moments together. I also love that we've built so many meaningful friendships through our work in different areas of the organization. Since we work on opposite sides of healthcare, we're able to support each other, share different perspectives, and help one another navigate the challenges of our roles. It's been rewarding to grow together both personally and professionally.
