Rodolfo J. Oviedo, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a highly accomplished, board-certified, fellowship trained metabolic & bariatric surgeon. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (DABS), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), and an Overseas Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in London, UK. Dr. Oviedo has published numerous research manuscripts and book chapters, including the first robotic general surgery case series published in the international surgical literature from an American community hospital perspective.

After graduating from residency, Dr. Oviedo became an attending surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Florida State University College of Medicine for 4 years in Tallahassee, FL, at Capital Regional Medical Center. In Tallahassee, Dr. Oviedo developed a successful and busy robotic general surgery program capable of performing highly advanced general, oncologic, and metabolic operations, including the first robotic Roux en Y gastric bypass and the first robotic sleeve gastrectomy in the history of that city. After performing over 200 successful robotic general and bariatric surgeries, Dr. Oviedo became an Advanced Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery fellow at Baptist Health South Florida in Miami.
