Valley Health offers American Heart Association (AHA) training classes for healthcare professionals, community partners and individuals with no healthcare background. Whether you need certification for your job or want to learn lifesaving skills, we offer courses to help you prepare for emergencies.

    • Safe Sitter classes help prepare young people to stay safe when caring for children. Classes are offered seasonally and generally follow local public-school calendars, with most courses available in the spring and summer.

CPR and First Aid Training for Non-Healthcare Professionals

Knowing how to perform CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and provide basic first aid can help you respond during an emergency while waiting for first responders to arrive. These courses are designed for people who do not work in healthcare but may need these skills at work or in their community.

Available Classes

AHA Heartsaver® CPR AED and First Aid

This course teaches you how to:

  • Perform CPR for adults
  • Use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Help someone who is choking
  • Provide basic first aid for common emergencies
  • Respond confidently until emergency medical services arrive

AHA Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED

This course focuses on emergencies involving infants and children. It is well suited for childcare providers, teachers, coaches and others who regularly care for children.

You will learn how to:

  • Recognize signs of illness or injury in children
  • Perform CPR for infants and children
  • Use an AED when appropriate
  • Respond to common pediatric emergencies
