This week in Family Connections, we are highlighting the Comptons. Both Cathy and her son, Michael, enjoy working in the Central Supply Department together.

What do you like about working with your son? I have worked in Central Supply for four years now and I absolutely love my job. What we do is so important and can make a huge difference in the clinical staff providing the best patient care possible. I love sharing that with my son. The fact that what we do can have such a positive impact in so many lives is uplifting. Having my son be a part of making that happen is wonderful. It also gives us time to be “adults.” Not just mother and son, but co-workers and friends. There is a specific line when we are at work. I am Ms. Cathy and he is Michael. Being able to see him grow in a professional manner makes me very proud.

Why did you choose Valley Health? Valley Health is a wonderful place to work. Everyone here is very supportive. The benefits are amazing, and it is a great place to work.

What do you like about working with your mom? The air of familiarity that brings comfort when working near family is something that always makes the days less stressful and fun. While I do keep the interactions professional, I cannot help but feel at ease when I am working alongside my mother.

Why did you choose Valley Health? I was referred here by my mother, who had been working here for a while at that point. What she had to say about VHS inspired me to try to get my foot in the door. After being here almost three years now, I can say with certainty that the good things she spoke of were true, and my expectations were completely surpassed.
