Finding the Right Care During the Holidays

Finding the Right Care During the Holidays

When you get sick over the holidays, it’s important to choose the right care, at the right place, at the right time. Business hours change, and knowing whether to call your doctor, your local Urgent Care, or the Emergency Department can help save you both time and money.

First: Find the Right Care

  • Primary Care serves all your healthcare needs, including preventative care and acute and chronic care. Make an appointment with your Primary Care Provider for your annual physical, child well visits, prescription refills, and more. Visiting your doctor is your least expensive option of care.
  • Urgent Care is for urgent but non-emergent medical attention, such as cuts/lacerations, sprains, coughs/colds, sore throat/strep, pink eye, earaches, vaccinations and more. An appointment is not needed. Check-in online at vhurgentcare.com or walk-in. X-ray and Lab Services are available at select locations.
  • The Emergency Department treats severe conditions that may be life-threatening. No appointment is needed. Call 911 if you need an ambulance.
  • Specialty Care is for specific non-emergent concerns that require care from a specialist. An appointment is necessary.

If you are experiencing flu-like or COVID-19 symptoms, visit valleyhealthlink.com/COVID19 for the latest information on care and testing options. This page also includes more on testing options pre-procedure or for those who are asymptomatic.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and are experiencing mild symptoms, please stay home and avoid contact with others. If you are having trouble breathing and/or are experiencing severe COVID symptoms, please call 911 or visit your local Emergency Department.
