Fun, Free - and First Ever! Announcing the Panhandle Health and Wellness Festival

Valley Health and Blue Ridge Community and Technical College are partnering to bring area residents the first ever Panhandle Health and Wellness Festival.

The fun is happening on October 5th, 2019 from 8am-12pm at Blue Ridge’s main campus (13650 Apple Harvest Drive, Martinsburg, WV).

Valley Health seeks to serve communities by improving health. For over 25 years, we have furthered this mission by sponsoring health and wellness festivals within the region that have connected thousands of residents with free or discounted medical screenings and healthy lifestyles education. We are excited to continue this tradition by partnering with Blue Ridge Community and Technical College to bring the Panhandle Health and Wellness Festival to Martinsburg on October 5, 2019!

This family friendly event will provide a variety of health-related services and activities that will help residents improve their well-being in an accessible, affordable, and fun manner,” said Kristy Shannon, Director of Valley Health Urgent Care in the Eastern Panhandle. “As Valley Health continues to expand the services for residents in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties, we’re very excited to bring the health and wellness festival to Martinsburg.

The festival will offer many free health screenings and discounted lab work will be offered, along with demonstrations and healthy culinary delights sure to be enjoyed by all ages. Some of the screenings and information sessions being provided include:

  • Heart Attack Risk Program (HARP) - find out where you stand on a number of modifiable risk factors
  • CIMT Screening - helps identify those at higher risk for cardiovascular disease in its earlier and most treatable stages using a noninvasive ultrasound
  • 12 Lead EKG Screening - records the electrical activity of your heart to check for signs of heart disease. A cardiologist from Panhandle Cardiology and Vascular Medicine will be on-hand to provide results
  • Metabolic & Bariatric Program - Learn about our program that not only guides patients through the weight loss process, but also gives them the tools to succeed in keeping the weight off.

And much, much more, including many activities for children!

Keep an eye out on the Valley Health blog and Facebook page to learn more about select services and activities that will be offered at this first ever event!
