Warren Memorial Hospital offers an education and exercise program specifically
designed for patients with heart or lung issues. The program helps patients
optimize their physical, psychological, and social capabilities while
managing the symptoms of their condition. Our program is aimed at patients
of all ages who want to learn how to live with their condition more effectively.
Patients in our rehabilitation program have diagnoses like:
- Heart Attacks
- Bypass Surgery / Valve Repair
- Artery Stents
- Heart Transplant
- Chest Pain
- Interstitial Lung Disease
- ...and more.
Our program includes multiple stages, beginning with a thorough medical
evaluation. This will help us understand your needs and limitations, giving
us a better idea of how we can strengthen a patient’s body’s
function. It will also include physician-prescribed exercise, which will
be monitored by our team of physiologists, nurses, respiratory therapists,
and cardiac technicians.
We also offer classes to help patients understand their condition and how
to better cope with it on a daily basis. This includes help from a dietitian
and pharmacist to learn how your food affects your recovery, and what
your medications actually accomplish. Eventually, our program participants
graduate from the program and exercise on their own, unmonitored.
Our Virginia hospital also hosts a seminar called the Blue Ridge Symposium
in order to provide better information about respiratory care to medical
professionals all over the country.
