Cold & Flu Season Precautions

Cold & Flu Season Precautions

In order to protect patients, visitors and staff during flu season, we need your help to reduce the spread of infection.

Always remember if you are not feeling well, our doctors, Advanced Practice Clinicians and nurses are here to care for you and your family members. With primary care practices, as well as Urgent Care and Quick Care locations, it is easy to get the care you need when you are under the weather.

Hospital Visitors

By performing a few simple actions, hospital visitors can help limit the spread of flu and flu-like illness and keep their loved ones, other patients and staff safe:

  • Stay Home if Sick – do not visit the hospital if you are feeling ill or have flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, chills, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, headache or body aches).
  • Hand Hygiene – wash your hands before andafter visiting, and upon entering and exiting a patient room (wash with soap and water or clean with alcohol-based hand sanitizer).
  • Cough Etiquette – cover your cough/sneeze and wash your hands afterward.
  • Flu Shot – protect yourself and your family this flu season by getting your annual flu shot.

Visitor Information

  • General visiting hours are 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily.
  • Visitors must be age 12 or older, except for children of the patient.
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Patients may designate one visitor as their “care partner,” who will be permitted to stay with the patient 24/7.
  • Visitors must wear a Visitor ID Badge at all times (available at South Tower Information Desk).
  • Visitors may be limited or restricted and additional precautions may be taken based on the patient’s medical condition.
