Winchester Medical Center Pharmacy Residency Program
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is conducted by Winchester Medical Center in
Winchester, Virginia. The mission of the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
at Winchester Medical Center is to enable residents to become independent
practitioners and to be confident in practicing in a variety of health
care settings. The emphasis of this residency is on the impact of pharmacists
and pharmacy leadership on patient care in the hospital setting through
a multidisciplinary approach. Residents gain an appreciation for providing
community service and the importance of providing education to patients
and health care professionals. With our affiliation with Shenandoah University,
the residents are able to participate in a teaching certificate program
to gain experience in lecturing and precepting pharmacy students. Additional
opportunities for direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting and
at one of our sister hospitals, Warren Memorial Hospital, are available.
