Winchester Rehabilitation Center is located in a quiet neighborhood in the old town section of Winchester, Virginia. It is a regional medical rehabilitation hospital providing inpatient and outpatient services to people whose lifestyle and physical abilities have changed due to an injury or sudden illness.

We serve patients with the following conditions:
  • Amputation: loss of one or both legs
  • Arthritis: pain and loss of movement in one or more joints
  • Brain injury: sudden change in thinking, behavior, strength and/or motor control of trunk and limbs
  • Cancer-related diseases: serving patients whose functional abilities have changed while undergoing cancer treatment
  • Cardiovascular disease: recent cardiac surgery or change in cardiovascular endurance requiring inpatient rehabilitation
  • Neurological disease: loss of strength, sensation, coordination, vision, perception or thought process
  • Spinal cord injury: loss of strength and sensation at or below the level of injury
  • Stroke: sudden muscle weakness or paralysis; change in perception, thought processes and speech
  • Pulmonary disease: deconditioning or loss of pulmonary/lung function limiting endurance for functional activities
  • Orthopedic/musculoskeletal conditions: decreased mobility and strength due to fracture, trauma, joint replacement or degenerative diseases of the bones/joints
Admissions
The first step is a pre-assessment to determine whether the patient’s needs can be met by our services. To be admitted a patient must meet the following criteria:
  • Medically stable
  • Requires an interdisciplinary approach of two or more therapies (physical, occupational or speech therapy)
  • Able to tolerate three hours of therapy at least five days per week
  • Require close medical supervision of a rehabilitation physician
  • Requires 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care
  • Has a discharge plan
