Warren Memorial Hospital’s Surgical Services Department has a surgical team dedicated to providing high quality care. Special techniques you may expect to find only in a large hospital help the WMH team do surprising things for patients, including getting them back on their feet sooner. Skilled surgeons and experienced staff make that care possible.
Surgical Services is located on the hospital’s first floor near the main south entrance. The department has four operating rooms, a three-bed post-anesthesia care unit (recovery room), a 10-room Same-Day Surgery unit, and an endoscopy suite. The Same-Day Surgery unit’s hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

When you are scheduled for surgery, you are also scheduled for a pre-anesthesia evaluation prior to the date of your surgery. The anesthesiologist will meet with you to evaluate the safety of the proposed anesthesia. This may require further testing such as blood work, an EKG or X-rays. A peri-operative nurse will also meet with you to explain what to expect the day of your surgery and to answer any questions you might have.
