Awards & Recognition
U.S. News & World Report has released its Best Hospital Rankings for 2014-15, and Winchester Medical Center
was recognized as one of the top five hospitals in Virginia. Winchester Medical Center was rated as "high performing" in Orthopedics
For tertiary community hospitals like ours, the analysts at U.S. News evaluate hospital performance in 12 specialties. Data comes from multiple sources and are applied across four primary dimensions of healthcare: outcomes, structure, process, and patient safety.
The 2014-15 Best Hospitals rankings cover nearly 5,000 hospitals. Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Winchester Medical Center has also received national recognition for its joint replacement, once again earning designation as a Blue Distinction Center* for Knee and Hip Replacement by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia. The medical center received its first Blue Distinction designation for knee and hip replacement in October 2009. We have continued and furthered our efforts to provide the best possible care and outcomes for our patients. Our orthopedic surgeons perform 700 joint replacement procedures each year.
The Blue Distinction designation, launched in the fourth quarter of 2009, is awarded to medical facilities that have demonstrated a commitment to quality care and offer comprehensive inpatient joint replacement services, including total knee replacement and total hip replacement.
