Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Foundation
With the same spirit of community that built Shenandoah Memorial Hospital from the ground up in 1951, the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Foundation has worked tirelessly to help raise the needed capital to fund new technology, programs and facilities to improve healthcare services for local residents.

The Foundation has funded over $4.9 million since 1987. These contributions have greatly benefited our community hospital by furthering the mission of providing quality healthcare within our local communities. The financial support given to the Foundation over this period has been vital to maintaining and expanding the highest level of care to our patients. Through several capital campaigns, annual fund drives, golf tournaments, art shows, and other special events, the community has continually supported the financial needs of SMH. You have ensured yourself, and family, and neighbors will have modern medical facilities and highly trained professionals within the community, and always available; however, even as we continue to modernize facilities and add new technology, additional resources and support are necessary on an annual basis to continue our mission. The growth of our local communities in the past several years have placed greater need for the healthcare services delivered at SMH.

Because of the generous support of individuals, families and businesses, the Foundation has been able to allocate funds for new facility construction and renovation, including new operating rooms, and the new Shenandoah Surgery Center. Additionally, the Foundation has regularly contributed funds to the Community Health and Wellness Department for educational programs that encourage greater awareness of health-related issues and how to reduce risk factors commonly associated with chronic and debilitating diseases. The Foundation made a $37,500, five year pledge in 2013 to support Healthy Families of Shenandoah County. HFSC provides a variety of services to all first time parents in the county – from parenting information and referral to one-time home visits addressing individual needs to ongoing home visiting for those new families that would benefit from weekly support, education, and guidance in raising a healthy child in a safe and nurturing home environment.

In 2013, the Foundation approved over $205,000 in projects, programs, charity care, education and equipment for the hospital and community we serve.  This includes over $72,000 for medical equipment and improvements throughout the hospital that assist patients, their families and staff.  The Foundation also funded over $62,000 in Charity Care and Indigent Care for patients, helping those patients with medical needs they can't afford.
