Front Royal, Virginia
The Family Practice Center is home to our residency program and Front
Royal Family Practice (FRFP). FRFP is a well-established, full service
practice which has been providing health care for this community for
over 20 years. Between our residency and FRFP, we have created an
atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork of which the residents are
an essential part. During the three years you are a resident in our
program, you will be a part of our family and the Family Practice
Center will become your professional home.
The Family Practice Center was built in 1999 and is almost 18,000
square feet. The building itself, as well as the staffing, were designed
to optimize your learning of ambulatory medicine skills. There are
30 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, a counseling room with a one-way
mirror, six resident offices with two desks and two computers in each
office, six faculty offices, an administrative office for the residency,
a precepting room with a library and two computers, a large conference
room, as well as a large business office and waiting room. The building
is fully computerized with a state-of-the-art electronic medical record
and we can perform procedures that range from skin lesion excision
to video colposcopy.
The patient care area is divided into three large sections with two
nursing pods per section, as well as two faculty and two resident
offices per section. This enables us to maximize our team approach
to health care delivery and facilitates regular resident/faculty interaction.
Staffing in the Family Practice Center is such that there is excellent
nursing support. All of the nursing personnel and many of the clerical
personnel actively participate in your education and are invaluable
members of our health care team.
