Winchester Medical Center Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
The Neonatal Intensive Care unit is located on the 2nd floor of the North Tower. We offer a Level III NICU for babies that need more advanced care. The unit is one of only a few NICUs in the tri-state area to have private patient rooms rather than ward style. There are 21 single rooms, 3 twin rooms and 1 triplet room for a total of 30 beds.
Our team of neonatologists, nurse practitioners, staff nurses and Respiratory and Occupational Therapists use the latest in technological advances to care for babies at 26 weeks of gestation and beyond. Most babies are admitted to the NICU because they are born prematurely; some are born full-term with breathing or other difficulties that need treatment. We realize that having an ill or premature infant is unexpected and frightening. Our team is committed to giving your child all the medical and emotional support available to us. From the moment of admission, we want you to participate in your baby’s care. As your baby’s condition improves you will be able to assume more responsibility for his or her care.
