Friday, March 19, 2010 - Valley Health Announces Grand Opening of New Market Health Facility
Valley Health invites area residents to attend the grand opening of its New Market Family Health Center and Multi-Specialty Clinic, 9166 North Congress Street (Route 11), on Saturday, March 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Following welcoming remarks by Tom Linski, New Market resident and Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Board member, New Market Mayor Larry Smith will cut the ribbon and guests will be invited to tour the facility, enjoy refreshments, and meet family practice physician Steve Templeton, MD.

The facility will open to patients on Monday, April 5. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with “walk-ins” welcome. “The plan is to begin with these hours and as patient volume increases, we can extend the hours with the addition of a second practitioner,” states Dr. Timothy Willox, Valley Health senior vice president and president of Valley Physician Enterprise, the Valley Health division that works directly with employed and affiliated physicians.

Family practitioner Steve Templeton, MD, is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Templeton is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 25 years. Although a Tennessee native, Dr. Templeton is not new to this area. He practiced in Luray from 1990 to 1999 and at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital from 2000 to 2001. He returns to this area to be closer to his two daughters in Edinburg.

“It’s good to be back in the Shenandoah Valley and I’m looking forward to building a practice in New Market,” says Dr. Templeton. “Having worked and lived in this area before, I don’t view myself as a stranger. I think being in New Market will be a great fit!”

In addition to the New Market Family Health Center, Valley Health is establishing a Multi-Specialty Clinic in the same offices. This separate practice will be comprised of a team of physicians from existing Valley Health medical practices who will travel to New Market to see patients on a regular basis. Specialists will be available each week on the following schedule: Monday – Gynecology, Tuesday – Behavioral Health, Wednesday and Thursday - Orthopedics, and Friday – General Surgery (office visits). Appointments will be required to see these practitioners.

Scott Rosenfeld of La Rose Development in Winchester worked with Valley Health to ensure maximum efficiency in the design of the office space. The practice offers state-of-the art communications networking with all Valley Health facilities, which will enable physicians to view x-rays, test results, and other important patient information as needed on the secured website.

Providing healthcare services for the New Market community began several years ago with discussions between local leaders and Floyd Heater, president of Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.

“This is a great accomplishment! We are grateful to Virginia Lutheran Homes for their generous land endowment, the invested members of this community, and Valley Health who each played a part in expanding healthcare services to the people of southern Shenandoah and northern Rockingham counties,” says Heater.
